Yesterday we posted about the announce via Joss Wheldon that the shooting of the Avengers started. Today, the first funny production photo for Whedon’s biggest superhero film ever made “The Avengers” is now online.

The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson.

This is the first official press release:
Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated movie “Marvel’s The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) from a screenplay by Whedon.  The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2″) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″) as Nick Fury.  Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”

“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.

The creative production team also includes Oscar nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (“Atonement”), production designer James Chinlund (“25th Hour”), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs (“Iron Man 2,” “The Matrix”), visual effects producer Susan Pickett (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2″), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell (“Superman Returns”), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Iron Man,” “War of the Worlds”). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell (“Collateral”) and Jeffrey Ford (“Crazy Heart”).

Marvel Studios most recently produced “Iron Man 2″ which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to “Iron Man,” starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.”  “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey, Jr. originally dons the super hero’s powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk” marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.

The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4, 2012.

Finally it has began!…Director Joss Whedon has announced that today is the first day of filming Marvel’s “The Avengers”, the ultimate superhero movie where Thor, Captain America, Thor, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, and Iron Man will be all togehter!

This is the official statement Joss Whedon posted on Whedonesque last night:

Hi Pumpkins, joss here.

Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I’m legally permitted to say that). Day one. That’s right. We’ll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:

[Marvel Lawyers rush in, take Joss’s keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in “Stormy Monday”, drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]

Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I’ll be checking in from time to time, if there’s news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake) . None of it will be Avengers news — I have some very denty pillows to remind of that — but I may have tidbits. (They’re not about Firefly. I should say that up front, if only to protect Sis Mo from the HATORZ.)

Some of you may be saying, Joss! Why this link, here, now, why, huh, howcum? My friend Allyx turned me on to these guys, and I’ll tell you, they’ve gotten me through this intensely pressurized, preply time. I strongly recommend checking out their other vids — I’ve watched them many many times, and I have a very special place for “Teamwork” in my heart. These guys are the guys. And IS there a better movie title than “Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses”? I thought not.

So wish me luck. DO IT! LUCK! NOW! I’m off to finish some Buffy pages, and then figure out what the movie is about already. I’m pretty sure it’s about the Justice League [Marvel Lawyers re-enter, unspeakability occurs] or possibly something else. I’ll get it. I’ve been looking forward to this. For about 46 years.

Catchphrase!

The Avengers are set to be released in 3D on May 4th, 2012.

The God of Thunder had his world premiere last Sunday April 17th in Sydney and we had the honour to watch the film at the venue. This is our review for this big superhero blockbuster film, and remember there is no absolute true in any review, you have to go to your local cinema and watch the film, there is no better critic than yourself!

Director and actor Kenneth Branagh brings to us the adaptation of this Marvel Super hero to the big screen, with our fair dinkun australian superstar Chris Hemsworth playing the lead role of “Thor” alongside the great Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander.

The film centers the story in the exile of Thor to the Earth and the conflict between he and his father and brother Loki, because of his arrogant and impulsive behavior, which disturbed the peace between the Asgardians and their ancient foes, the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. This issue makes Thor been punished after almost assume the throne of Asgard from Odin.

The film, follows the code of every film with the unique style of the Marvel franchise with lot of references to the previous films like Ironman, Hulk, to the upcoming “The Avengers”, and obviously with Marvel’s king Stan lee having his classic cameo “somewhere” during the movie.

In therms of acting, Chris Hemsworth does a good job as The God of Thunder, acting like a barbarian, a true warrior, like he was born to play the character. Furthermore, he shows a funny side in some scenes thanks to his co-stars as well. It’s not easy to play a super hero and our Aussie stars does a terrific job.

The film itself has a great art direction specially in the design of Asgard with so many details very close to the artworks from some of the classic Marvel comic book series. Moreover, the special effects of the film and the 3D worked very well confirming that the latest state of the art was used to made the film.

Action is not missed in the film, they are epic battles in Asgard and the Earth during the film, some classic villains like Thor’s enemy “The Destroyer” and of course with The God of Thunder using his favourite weapon, the marvelous hammer “Mjöllnir”.

Thor is a fun movie, and perfectly linked with Ironman I, II and The Incredible Hulk and for sure will be linked to captain America as well…all the elements are there, ready for the biggest super hero film of all times: The Avengers.

Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” is a must watch film for all ages and specially for the comic book fans…pure and fun entertainment!, and please DON’T FORGET TO WATCH THE FILM UNTIL THE END OF THE CREDITS…you will see a really nice surprise there and also we invite you to check our full coverage “On The Spot” of the world premiere of “Thor” held at Event cinemas, George Street in Sydney last Sunday 17 of April.

The God of Thunder will hit cinemas in 3D on May 6, 2011.

Remember, our reviews don’t have the absolute truth, actually we share the idea that there is no review 100% accurate, because we think that everyone has to be their own critic and the best way to do a review of a film, a concert, etc is doing it yourself, going and experiencing all “on the spot”…so don’t wait and go to see “THOR” and give us your personal opinion of the film.

The world premiere of  Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” was held on Sunday April 17th at Event Cinemas George street. It had a massive media coverage, lots of  A-lister guests and of course the most important thing: tons of fans waiting long time to see their favourite stars.

Walking the red carpet fans got close to our very own Australian superstar Chris Hemsworth who plays the lead role in the film as “Thor” joined by director Kenneth Branagh, who attracted some Harry Potter fans, thanks to his role as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets“. Moreover, co-stars, the gorgeous actress Jaimie Alexander who plays the role of Thor’s friend “Sif” and Tom Hiddleston who plays Thor’s brother “Loki” join them in the carpet.

Other local celebrities walked the red carpet: Lincoln Lewis, Tim Pocock, and Todd Lasance as part of the cast from Home and Away, who came to support his old mate Chris Hemsworth. Rebecca Breeds, TV personality Jamie Durie, actors from Pack to the Rafters and a special last minute guest, Dutch singer pop star Eva Simons.

People at the red carpet got postcards and sharpies to get autographs, but that doesn’t stopped the fact that the red carpet was in some moments a bit chaotic, with no proper area set up for the thousand fans around and inside the cinema, just a small space for them along George Street. However, despite this issue the event worked in a normal way with the stars trying to stop as much as they could for photos and autographs, only been rushed inside by their publicist in order to don’t delay the schedule for media and the screenings.

We have to mention a really good example of how a star should be: Tom Hiddeston (Loki) who spent more time than every guest there signing and posing for photos, taking time to actually talk with all the people at the red carpet and even ignoring his publicist who was pushing him to dismiss the fans and go inside (Good one!).

Overall was a really good event, a world premiere in Australia is always welcome and we look forward to have more of this events here in our country, but please don’t forget the fans who wait hours and hours just to spend a second with their idols…they deserve a big reward for it!

Here enjoy some exclusive pictures from the red carpet below:

And stay tuned, because we hope to have some “Thor” giveaways soon…also we watched the film so don’t forget to check our review, it will come really soon!

Marvel has released 3  new images for Captain America: The first avenger.

The movie stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, and Hugo Weaving.

The year is 1942, and Steve Rogers is a scrawny lad who desperately wants to fight Nazis for his country but can’t because he’s been deemed physically unfit. His fate — and his physique — is radically transformed when he signs up for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation that turns wimps into studs using drugs and assorted sci-fi hoo-ha. There’s a love interest (Major Peggy Carter, played Haley Atwell), there’s a sidekick (Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stans), and there’s the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler’s treacherous head of advanced weaponry, whose own plan for world domination involves a magical object known as The Tesseract (comic fans know it better as The Cosmic Cube).
