Grunge iconic band Pearl Jam will celebrate its 20 years next August, and to celebrate that they will play a one off festival over the Labor Day long weekend – 3rd-4th September – at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Wisconsin.(Sorry folks…nothing for Oz this time)

This show will be the very only American set for Pearl Jam this year, and the best thing is that they wil share the stage at the festival with support coming from The Strokes, Queens Of The Stone Age, Mudhoney, John Doe, Joseph Arthur, Glen Hansard and Liam Finn.

But don`t worry Aussie fans, because we can celebrate with the band thanks to Cameron Crowe’s documentary “Pearl Jam Twenty”  that will be released the next September.

If you are a Pearl Jam fan, this is a must watch documentary…if you haven`t seen the teaser trailer for it, just check it below:

The Australian premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger tides” was held yesterday, May17th at George St. cinemas, with a very special guest, Geoffrey Rush, Captain Barbossa himself walked the “Black Carpet” among some local celebrities.

It was a great venue, with kids walking around with Pirate customs, fans of the saga and people who wanted to see this amazing actor closer, and none of them was disappointed.

Rush arrived at 6.15 pm as it was scheduled, he immediately meet and greet the fans around the carpet, before doing all the media. He happily signed autographs asking the names of every single person around making the best personalized autographs ever dreamed for any fan. Not only that, Mr. Rush also did photos with almost everyone there. Hand shakes, kisses, hugs were also on the list, showing all the crowd what a great kind of person he is, despite the fact he is one of the best actors in the film industry, Oscar awarded and nominated almost every year, he still keeps his modest attitude around, an amazing example for other growing actors and celebrities in general.

After the first round of happy fans, Geoffrey Rush went to the media area. He was very talkative with everyone, taking his time to answer. Then he posed at the media wall next to his character poster and then on the main area, just to continue greeting more fans at the end of the carpet, again stopping for all of them and getting the love and admiration of everyone who wanted to meet him, dismissing the people trying to rush him inside the cinema.

Geoffrey Rush is for sure  a world class actor and a nice person…That is the spirit!

Here enjoy some of the postcards of the venue below:

About the film:
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise.  When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more:  Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

It was a day of laughs, tumbles and sand kicking in Dee Why Beach at the Celebrity Challenge over the weekend but it was also a day of surprises. The culmination of the week long Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic, Layne Beachley’s own team lost to husband Kirk Pengilly’s.

Pengilly’s teammate Stephanie Gilmore missed out on winning the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic, despite being four times world champion, but won’t go home without a win. Their team which also included Guy Leech and Peter Phelps, wowed the crowds that gathered on the beachfront with their impressive surfing skills after winning the volleyball challenge. They win $5,000 for ‘Go Red for Women’, the Heart Foundation’s campaign that unites women in the fight against heart disease, the number one killer in women.

“Steph’s decision to have Kirk as the double whammy sure paid off and it will be the only time I will allow him to beat me in the water” says Layne.

Among the celebrities, in the pink coming in second: Lincoln Lewis, Dustin Clare, NSW Treasurer Mike Baird and current world number one and Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic 2011 winner Carissa Moore, supporting Bear Cottage. In the white was David Jones-Roberts, Stuart MacGill, Rob ‘Millsy’ Mills and Brittani Nicholl, supporting Crohn’s and Colitis Australia. Coming in last was the purple team made up of Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Kerri Pottharst, Matt Hall and Layne Beachley for Layne’s Aim for the Stars Foundation.

On the sand Volleyball court, friendly taunts were flying across the net with Dicko and Guy Leech trash talking each other’s skills and Stephanie Gilmore commenting “Lincoln, you look good in pink”. In the water, the standouts were Peter Phelps, Guy Leech and Dustin Clare, followed closely by Lincoln Lewis with some acrobatic skills on the longboard.

As we promised this is the footage we recorded from the Australian premiere of “Water for elephants”.

We tried to film as much fans as possible from our media spot…we really hope that the moment when you met your idol for the first time is there.

Enjoy and don’t forget to check our full coverage “on the spot” with photos of the stars Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and our interview with the director of the film Francis Lawrence.

We also invited you to check our movie review for the film here.

Water for Elephants releases on cinemas this May 12th.

Today was the day…the wait was over! We were there “On the spot” for the Australian premiere of Francis Lawrence’s “Water for Elephants”…check it out.

Sydney’s Pitt street pedestrian area was not the same because The Australian Premiere of “Water for Elephants” was held today Friday 6th May, 2011 along with special guest Hollywood superstars Robert Pattinson, Academy Award Reese Witherspoon and director Francis Lawrence, transforming the entire place in a total Carnival…The circus was in town as Christoph Waltz quotes on the film everyone there today was welcomed “To the mos spectacular show on Earth”.

The venue was one of the biggest red carpets seen in years, something big enough to be comparable with the Premiere of Baz Luhrman’s Australia. The massive 300 meters red carpet went from the sidewalk of Pitt St mall until the State Theatre in Market street.

Tons of fans were waiting for hours to meet their favorites celebrities, some of them arriving the day before camping there just to have the best spot. Most of them were specially waiting for the Twilight star Robert Pattinson. Obviously, the screaming of at least 2,000 people, teenagers mostly, could be heard from the distance as soon as R-Patz arrived around 6.30 pm.

R-Patz patiently stopped for every single person, signing everything and posing for photos with many die-hard fans, event taking the pictures himself to help the nervous and loyal fans who were very excited and shocked to see him for the first time ever Down Under. On the contrary, co-star Reese Witherspoon didn’t pose for photos with fans but she happily signed for everyone.

Walking through the red carpet were local celebrities: actress Teresa Palmer, Home and Away’s actors Lincoln Lewis & Luke Mitchell, Biggest loser’s Michelle Bridges, Australian idol winner Wes Carr, models Sophie Faulkiner & Erika Heynatz and Sophie Lowe between others.

Director Francis Lawrence (I am legend, Constantine)  had a quick chat with Spotlight Report about the film. We ask him about Water for elephant’s gorgeous photography and he replied saying:

“The circus was a beautiful thing to shoot, in the set we created a great world with beautiful costumes and an unbelievable tent. I had to pick a great light and other than that, it was the easy part. We have great cinematographers and they did a beautiful job“.

Lawrence, also denied the rumours about a sequel or a prequel of  “I am legend” starred by Will Smith.

Yesterday May 5th, 2011 Cargo Bar & Davenport joined forces once again for the “Get Brunk’d Fashion Party” to celebrate Fashion week in style.

The harbourside side venue was the site chosen by Davenport to exhibit their “Get Brunk’d” winter collection.

From 6:30pm the doors opened for local celebrities and special guests. The audience were amused with a variety of drinks and delicious canapés followed by an extraordinary Fashion show, a neat presentation by Davenport with beautiful models and Australia’s swimming icon, Cleo’s Bachelor of the year Eamon Sullivan.

The party started with amazing live performance of breakdancers SKB (Street Kulture Breakers) Bgirl and IllFX. After that,  Prinnie and her backing dancers got in the stage for a couple of songs and later on, the new hip hop sensation Nate Wade and top party DJ – A Game, creating an amazing atmosphere at Cargo Lounge. At the end of the evening  the guest received a gift bag packed with beauty samples and of course a nice piece of Davenport’s legendary underwear.
