Russell Brand

As was expected hundreds of fans waited for hours to secure a good spot on the carpet and see their favourites celebrities. While waiting some fans won Arthur’s goodie bags and movie passes. Also some photos were handled from production to get signed by Russell Brand.

Around 6:30pm the moment that everyone was expecting happened, Russell arrived to the carpet drinking a small expresso and smilling to everyone. He spared some time along the carpet to sign everything, talked with fans and posing for photos for some of them.

Other celebrities walking the red carpet were Lincoln Lewis (Home and Away, Tomorrow when the war begun), Ronan Keating (Boyzone, X-factor judge and Goddess star), Australian band Amy Meredith, Rai Thistlethwayte (from local rock band Thirsty Merc), Fifi Fox and Didier Cohen between others.

At the end of the carpet Russell went on stage with Fifi Fox for a short speech were the funnyman encouraged fans and to all his twitter followers to sneak into the movie, there he met some fans there specially selected by production. Brand was really surprised with all the love and crazy fans out there even saying “the movie is starting…go and watch the film you maniacs” to some chicks at the screening when they run up to him.

Funny man Russell Brand will be in Sydney to promote his last film “Arthur” next week.

Brand will walk the red carpet at Event Cinemas, 500 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction the next Friday, April 15, 2011 around 18:30 pm.

Some of the expected guests/celebrities walking the red carpet are Hugo Weaving, Dan Wyllie, Silvia Colloca, Nash Edgerton and Mirrah Foulkes, Luke Mangan, Annalie Braakensiek, Wayne Cooper, Anna Lise Phillips, Peter Phelps, Sacha Horler, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Home and Away’s Lisa Gormley, Rescue Special Ops stars Daniel Amalm, Gigi Edgley, Katherine Hicks and Luke McKenzie, model Didier Cohen, musical theatre stars Andrew Bevis, Tamsin Carroll and Alexis Fishman, plus Ryan Clarke, Trent Maxwell and Liam Taylor from Bondi Rescue.

About the film:
Kind-hearted, fun-loving, and utterly without purpose, loveable billionaire Arthur Bach (Russell Brand) spends every day in the heedless pursuit of amusement. But when his unpredictable public image threatens the staid reputation of  the family foundation, he is given an ultimatum: marry the beautiful but decidedly unlovable Susan Johnson (Jennifer Garner) or say goodbye to his inheritance and the only way of life he knows.

It’s a deal Arthur would be inclined to take…if he hadn’t just fallen for Naomi (Greta Gerwig), a New York City tour guide who shares his idealism and spontaneity. The independent Naomi sees Arthur not only for who he is, but for who he could be, and finally gives him a reason to take charge of his own life.

With some unconventional help from his lifelong nanny and best friend Hobson (Helen Mirren) – the one person who always believed he could do anything – Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and learn what it means to become a man.

The “black carpet” for the Australian premiere of the latest visual creation of Zack Snyder “SUCKER PUNCH” was held on Event Cinemas George Street in Sydney, yesterday on April 3rd.

Australia’s own movie stars “Baby Doll” Emily Browning and “Sweet pea” Abbie Cornish walked along the black carpet joined by local celebrities like Harry Cook, Lincoln Lewis, Rhiannon Fish, Firass Dirani, Didier Cohen, Luke Mitchell and Rebecca Breeds.

Abbie Cornish and Emily Browning delighted their fans signing every single photo handled at the carpet and posing for  photos with many excited fans.

Before the arrivals, a great performance of a small group of six martial arts expert chicks invaded the carpet. The girl power performances stunned the audience and anticipated some of the core of Sucker Punch.
