Seriously today Triple M is on fire, posting the best rock news ever.

First was Motley Crue and Bret Michaels, then Chris Cornell and now Def Leppard confirming their tour for October with special guests Heart (Famous for songs like Barracuda and Alone, just to name 2)!

Music reporter Nui Te Koha told The Hot Breakfast: the ‘deal is done’ and they’ll be touring here with American rockers Heart.

This is just epic…what an amazing second semester with Soundwave Revolution, Motley Crue, Bret Michaels, Def Leppard and Heart, just to name some of the bands coming to Down under!

ROCK ON!

Again TripleM hit us with great rock news!, because Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) is mean to announce a solo Australian tour.

Music reporter Nui Te Koha told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast this morning: “Chris Cornell is coming to play some acoustic gigs. Soundgarden tracks are in the set. Expect an announcement this week or next.”

Cornell will follow the path of Eddie Vedder who toured Australia few months ago, with sold out shows around the country and we were there in Canberra and Sydney covering on the spot both of his shows.

For sure Cornell will have a show as good as Vedder’s…this will be a must go show!…can you imagine if he sings Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike”?

This could be one of the biggest music events of the last time in Oz.

Triple M`s music reporter Nui Te Koha said (an we knoe he always manage good sources of information): “Roger Waters looks a lot firmer now. Rod Laver Arena [in Melbourne] looks likely to stage The Wall show [and it’s] going to be huge,”

The Wall tour was launched last year with epic shows in the US and Canada totally based on the concept of the original performances done back in 1980 and 1981.

Roger Waters’ last visit to Oz was in 2008.

Fingers crossed for this one!

Select Touring is proud to announce support acts for the House Of Pain ‘He Who Breaks The Law’ Australian Tour this April and May.  In Sydney and Melbourne the rowdy Irish-American hip-hop legends will be joined by Aussie live mash-up kings, The Havknots, while in Brisbane local hip-hop outfit Jungle Traffic have been carefully selected for hype duties.

Combining the traditions of a music scene rooted in rock music with a future fringed with banging hip-hop, The Havknots are taking Australia and the world by storm. ‘Hip-hop, rock, rap, metal – it all comes together in the hellish cocktail that is The Havknotz’; a lethal combination that sounds ‘like Fred Dursts’ wet dream’ (The Scene).

Jungle Traffic’s skillfully crafted samples and custom made instrumentals have established the duo as one of the up and comers on the Brisbane hip-hop scene.  Now, they’re bringing their emerging talents to the nation.

It was the turn of a new decade when HOUSE OF PAIN changed the face of hip-hop with the release of their multi-platinum selling, self-titled, debut album which featured one of the most memorable songs in hip-hop history, ‘Jump Around’. Now it’s the start of another new decade and HOUSE OF PAIN is ready to do it all over again.  On the heels of their widely heralded reunion show at KROQ’s ‘Epicenter 2010’, EVERLAST and DANNY BOY have decided to get the band back together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the groups’ formation.

Of their reunion tour, EVERLAST says, ‘It’s been 20 years and we are very excited to go out there and do this again’. The group has crafted a legacy that speaks to fans from all walks of life, and they’re back to show fans everywhere just how raucous and dirty hip-hop can be – to prove that it doesn’t matter your age, race, religion or whether you’re into hip-hop, rock or metal.  What matters is your readiness to raise the roof.

After sold out shows in Brisbane,  Canberra (see our review here) and Newcastle, Pearl Jam’s frontman Eddie Vedder landed in Sydney to perform 3 nights at the State Theatre in Sydney. Last Friday March, 18 was the opening night and Spotlight Report was there again,  on the spot, enjoying a masterpiece of show among thousands of excited fans.

Security at the place was very strict in regards of the policy of no cameras and recorded devices, but sometimes we don’t understand why some guards, maybe with a “Rambo complex” are really rude with the fans even before the show, even before the opening act, menacing people who was taking photos outside or inside the theater, the fans just wanted a photo with the stage as a background or on their sits waiting!….but still security doesn’t understand that, making a total circus sometimes because a “very dangerous fan was taking a photo of him with and his mates with his mobile on the sits of the theater”. Moreover, most of the people was agree with no use cameras during the show, and they were very respectful on that, but before even 8 pm, when they were still setting up the stage was a bit preposterous to be busted for take photos. Furthermore, we saw a couple of familiar faces in the security team, same faces that made red carpets a hell place to work and enjoy for many fans wanting an autograph. Fortunately this was just a small little problem in a perfect night.

8 pm and Evil J & Saint Cecilia started their performance with a place full of respectful Pearl Jam fans listening the Aussie duo.

9:06 pm and the moment of the night started…like the previous shows the sound of the guitar for “Just Breathe” was on the speakers, a spotlight directly to the Stage and Eddie Vedder came out before a standing ovation of a full house of fans.

Eddie started with Cat Stevens “Don’t Be Shy” and continuing with 3 Pearl Jam songs including “Around the Bend”, “Sometimes” and “Dead Man” making the crowd every time more and more excited. After this Eddie stopped and talk about his family, his 2 kids and his wife, telling some stories about him and some of his surfer’s mates, including Kelly Slater. Eddie grabbed a frame with a photo of his wife, kissing it, leaving all ready to play Tom Wait’s “Picture In A Frame”.

One of the many high moments of the venue came after this, when Eddie performed “Just Breathe”, with the entire place singing, with many people even crying with the marvelous sound of it. Many songs keep going after this, Eddie with his energy playing and changing his electric guitar for acoustic ones or using his ukulele to play songs like “Into the Wild”.

2 great moments of the venue were when Eddie showed his shirt and spoke about one of the causes he supports “Free the West Memphis”, explaining all about it and his relationship with one of the prisoners there and how this people inspired him. Another “weird” thing was when Eddie spoke about the funny haircut of a fan he met and asked him to came out on stage to cut his hair, and indeed the guy jumped on stage with a blond wig, which Vedder removed to cut the fan’s real hair.

The show keep moving until the end of the first part, with “Lukin” and “Porch” making the fans asking more and more!

The second part of the show started with Pearl Jam’s “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town”, followed by John Doe’s “The Golden State” supported by Evil J Barnes and Bruce Springsteen’s “Growing up”. The second part was ended by “Immortality” and “The End”. Again the public was totally surrender before the magic of Eddie and his prefect performance.

Furthermore, Eddie had an extra gift for all…he came back on stage and played one total rock-grunge classic in acoustic version, but full of energy: NEIL YOUNG’S “ROCKIN’ IN THE FREE WORLD” , everyone on the place was standing, singing, jumping…the sits were no longer…the State Theatre was like the Sydney’s Football stadium back in Nov 22, 2009.

The show was finished by “Hard Sun” with Saint Cecilia & Evil J on stage supporting Eddie, as it has been in the entire tour with Eddie giving guitar picks to some lucky fans and ending an awesome and unique venue.

Once again Eddie Vedder showed he is not only a great voice or a great composer, he is a full artist, capable to make a whole place and many generations of fans “ROCKIN’ IN THE FREEWORLD” only powered by his voice and his guitars!

Pearl Jam’s bassist Jeff Ament,  said the band is planing to record its 10th album studio album later this year.

Ament told Billboard.com that the band had written 25 songs for the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Backspacer’ which debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard 200.

“April will be the time where we get together and learn to play all these demos and figure out which 12-15 of them float to the top” …“Hopefully we can get something done this year”“There’s been so much focus on the past that I think all of us are really excited to make a new record and have something to look forward to because we’ve been digging in the boxes in our basement a lot the last year or so.” Ament said.

Are you as excited as we are?…and don`t forget to check our review “On the spot” of Eddie Vedder`s Australian tour show in Canberra here.
