An unlikely cast of Australian identities and celebrities-turned-actors, including the former Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Steve Bracks AC, will battle for ego supremacy without a safety net for a one-off charity performance in an adaptation of David Williamson‟s hit play, Emerald City at The C.U.B Malthouse on June 1st.

These 13 well-known identities have agreed to come out of their comfort zone and sign on for this unique charitable event called One Night in Emerald City, which will be directed by Glenn Hazeldine.

The Hon. Steve Bracks AC, businessman, John Elliott and socialite and hairdresser-to-the-stars, Lillian Frank will be making their acting debuts. They will be joined by Channel 7 personality, Andrew O’Keefe (Deal Or No Deal/Weekend Sunrise), media identity, Ita Buttrose, Denise Drysdale (The Circle), comedians Mikey Robins (Good News Week) and Carl Barron and acclaimed actors, Lucy Bell (Bell Shakespeare) and Anna Volska, Ali McGregor (soprano), chef Tobie Puttock and David Field (City Homicide).

David Williamson has revived the original characters in Emerald City and written special roles for this unique cast to read. All the non-actors are playing their alter egos, with Steve Bracks playing „Tony‟ – an Olympic swimming champion who has found a new, socially constructive vocation. The role of Tony was played by Ian Thorpe and Ian Roberts in previous productions of the play. The audience will also see John Elliott play a cranky old producer, Ita Buttrose as a Hungarian Jewish woman with a taste for fashion and great accents and Lillian Frank as her flamboyant sister Azizza.

“What the audience will be seeing is actually David Williamson‟s EMERALD CITY 11 – a look at the Emerald City right now,” says Tanya Lee, the producer of the event. “It will be a scurrilous, opinionated and accurate look at a politically, socially and artistically mismanaged city that any sane person would be fleeing to go and live in Melbourne,” she added.

David Williamson promises no one will leave the theatre not offended. His adaptation reintroduces playwright, Colin (Andrew O‟Keefe), who is obviously not sane. Colin has come to the Emerald City thinking it still has its sparkle, but he soon discovers the glitter has gone. Its infrastructure is crumbling due to decades of Governmental neglect, but the mad scramble for money has only intensified and people still pay crazy money for crumbling piles of residential junk, as long they have harbour glimpses.

Colin‟s wife, Kate (Lucy Bell) is very dubious about the shift and with good reason. Only the big players can survive in this jungle and the big question is whether Colin has got what it takes. Probably not!

The eclectic cast of celebrities have been persuaded to come out of their comfort zones with the aim of raising money for their favourite charities by Tanya Lee, who is producing the theatrical show. As Chairperson of the CorriLee Foundation, Tanya came up with this unique concept to raise money for her charity and others and persuaded David Williamson and the celebrities to get on board. Over $150,000 has been raised to date for over 14 charities through performances of the play which have been staged in Sydney and Noosa.

The Sydney based CorriLee Foundation is a fundraising entity that is named after Corrie Lee (Tanya Lee’s Grandmother). Her virtues and a never-give-up attitude inspires her family to maintain the perseverance, determination, optimism, generosity, kindness and commitment that Corrie Lee lives her life by. The CorriLee Foundation in its 2 year history has raised money for SANE Australia, Oasis (Sydney‟s homeless youth), AFAP (The Australian Foundation for the peoples of Asia and the Pacific), Educating Africa, The Deb Bailey Foundation, Angel Flight, The Lighthouse Shelter Orphanage, The Saville Foundation & Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Tanya was more surprised than anyone when David Williamson and the cast of high profile identities agreed to participate in the production. “I couldn‟t have asked for a better outcome. Everyone I approached surprisingly agreed to participate, starting with David, who agreed to adapt his wonderful play and its characters for these amazing and brave people to perform,” she said. “This act of generosity gives us a unique opportunity to raise money for our charities and that‟s what it‟s all about. I cannot wait to see what this medley of celebrities will bring to the stage; it‟s going to be a special evening.”

Major Sponsor of One Night in Emerald City is The Trust Company.

Moreover, we had the chance to ask a very quick question to Mr. Weaving about his role in Captain America, where he plays the villain “Red Skull“, and he said that he was very excited of been part of the Marvel Universe films.

Last night, Saturday May 21st, Jackass star Steve-O performed at the Enmore theatre in Sydney, his  “The entirely too much information tour” in Australia.

The show was divided in two parts. The first part was the funniest stand-up comedy ever! Steve-O stood in front of the audience with just jeans, white shirt and his cap facing many drunk idiots in the crowd the entire show, which don’t understand that in front of them is a person performing, doing his job,  still Steve-O solved all those situations in a great way. With jokes and direct words at the same time.

He told the audience stories about his new life, the vegan lifestyle and that he is proud to be sober and clean of drugs for the last 3 years. After that, he started to pointed out “How crooked is crooked” and told the funniest stories about his sexual life and many anecdotes with random girls and stories with his Jackass and Wildboyz’s friend Chris Pontius (a.k.a Party boy).  Steve-O’s also gave some inside stories about Jackass, like the story behind the whale shark! that was just hilarious! Now everyone who was part of the show can watch Jackass with different eyes… Also, at the end of this part Steve-O mentioned his new book “Professional idiot: a memoir“, a must for every fan!. Moreover, he also joked about his attempt to be a rapper with no luck.

The second part of the show was what people expected just AMAZING STUNTS! Steve-O showed how he use to get free drinks in bars just doing a great performance, drinking from a glass without using his arms. Later on, he did what he does better… hurt himself! … He put lemon in his eyes, cut his tongue with glass covering his face and chest in blood and to finish he did 2 different acts putting  himself on fire like a truly human match!

Everyone at the venue enjoyed the entire show responding very well to Steve-O‘s stories and stunts, applauding every moment and laughing like crazy. At the end of the show he promised to take a picture with everyone and to sign Jackass’ stuff that fans might have. Moreover, he probably stood at the Enmore’s lobby for more than 2 hours to do it for every single fan..That’s the spirit!

If you want to check out the photos go to Steve-O’s personal website here. If you were there, remember to post your photo on his Facebook account.

First trailer for Rodman Flender’s documentary “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop”.

The official synopsis:
After a much-publicized departure from hosting NBC’s Tonight Show – and the severing of a 22-year relationship with the network – O’Brien hit the road with a 32-city music-and-comedy show to exercise his performing chops and exorcise a few demons. The “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour” was O’Brien’s answer to a contractual stipulation that banned his appearance on television, radio and the Internet for six months following his last show. Filmmaker Rodman Flender’s resulting documentary, Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop, is an intimate portrait of an artist trained in improvisation, captured at the most improvisational time of his career. It offers a window into the private writers room and rehearsal halls as O’Brien’s “half-assed show” (his words) is almost instantly assembled and mounted to an adoring fan base. At times angry, mostly hilarious, O’Brien works out his feelings about the very-public separation with comedy and rockabilly music, engaging in bits with on-stage guests such as Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and Jim Carrey, duetting with Jack White and sweating out manic Elvis Presley covers with his band and back-up singers. We see a comic who does not stop — performing, singing, pushing his staff and himself. Did Conan O’Brien hit the road to give something back to his loyal fans, or did he travel across the continent, stopping at cities large (New York, Las Vegas) and remote (Enoch, Alberta) to fill a void within himself?

The film will hit Usa cinemas on May 20th, 2011

Lindsay Lohan co-hosted Sydney Australia’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show on 2Day FM this morning in a world exclusive interview!.  Kyle Sandilands was with Lindsay in his LA mansion and Jackie O in Sydney.

Kyle had this to say about the starlet: “I’ve always been a fan of Lindsay’s, it’s great to see what big stars are like… this girl is not the media circus we’re all led to believe.  Sure, she’s made her mistakes as we all have but she very much seems like she’s taken charge of her life. She looks fantastic, she’s fun to hang with… Lindsay is back!”

2Day FM Executive Producer Gemma O’Neill said: “Lindsay Lohan is one of the biggest interviews Australian radio and in fact the world has seen in quite a while. She’s incredibly confident, poised and borderline intimidating… Lindsay has been through a lot and it shows, she’s a strong young woman and very professional.”

Kyle:
Where are you living?

Lindsay:
Everyone knows where I live, it sucks, I’m in Venice Beach and I love it, it was good for me to get out of West Hollywood… it’s too chaotic, I wanted to get away.  It’s really nice, it’s a community and I can walk around, it’s too far for the Paparazzi.

Kyle:
We were at Chateau Marmont the other day and you said you used to live there?

Lindsay:
I lived at the Chateau Marmont for like two and a half years…

Jackie O:
I always wondered why you lived there for so long?

Lindsay:
I felt safe and I really trusted the people that worked there, I didn’t feel the need to go out, I could go downstairs and have dinners and meetings… everything was all in one place, I value being alone now, I love spending time by myself… back then I was afraid to be alone.  I did waste a lot of money staying there it was irresponsible of me.

Jackie O:
What would you do differently now, do you live with regret, do you wish you’d been more frugal with the money?

Lindsay:
I think everything happens for a reason.  If you start forgetting things you start trying to fool yourself of what you did.  And timing is everything. It gives you different perspectives on life, it made me be aware of being protective of my sister.

Jackie O:
Are you a tough girl, does this upset you…or do you not let it get to you?

Lindsay:
I ignore it… I do cry though when I’m upset.  I’ve lived a lot.

Kyle:
You’ve lived a lot, you’re a little bit terrifying…  you’re in charge of yourself there’s no mistaking that.

***

Jackie O:
What are you really like?

Lindsay:
What’s difficult is that I grew up in the public eye, I didn’t really have those college years… I was pretty irresponsible, I’ve done what I’ve had to do in terms of the mistakes I’ve made… I was definitely put in the position where I wasn’t putting my work first… and I didn’t even know if I wanted to, because I worked so much.  Once I start filming, that’s the best thing for me right now… I had to grow up. I’ve definitely had to weed out people from my life who were around me for the wrong reasons.

Jackie:
What about your real friends Lindsay?

Lindsay:
I have a really good group of people around me now who are loyal.

Kyle:
You look after your sister too, you’re always there for your sister… she’s a gorgeous looking girl…she swung into dinner the other night and there was some sort of ‘sisterness’ going on there.

Lindsay:
She’s 17, she’s 5.9 and really pretty, she has an amazing voice, I’m always looking out for her.

Jackie O:
At one stage you and Nicole, Paris and Mischa were good friends… was there a big falling out?

Lindsay:
No, I think it was just a social thing, I still talk to Nicole and I know her kids…you see people in passing, it becomes more of an acquaintance friendship…My best friends are my friends from New York, that I’ve grown up with and I know that I can always depend on.

Jackie O:
Is it true that Paris Hilton recently apologised to you?

Lindsay:
Yeah, she emailed my friend and wrote this massive apology, she said something on her show and apparently it was mean.

***

Jackie O:
Those rumours about you being uninsurable… the reason you couldn’t get any roles is because no one would insure you?

Lindsay:
I’m insured.  There was no problem insuring me… it just costs them a little extra money, it did for Gotti…

Kyle:
The premium has gone up!

Lindsay:
I would even hold my pay until after filming if I had to because I love working.

Kyle:
The average mum in the hair salon would read magazines and think she’s a booze hound and a party girl… that’s not what you’re like… you’re not drinking, you’re not partying… I mean you could make a party in a second… Plenty of people come over when you’re out.

Lindsay:
I don’t leave my house that much in Venice Beach… I cook a lot.  I paint, I write, I watch a lot of TV.

Jackie O:
What shows do you watch?

Lindsay:
I don’t watch Glee… they’ve made a lot of snarky remarks about me.  I think they’re all really talented and their work schedules are insane, it’s seven days a week, that doesn’t sound legal.

***

Jackie O:
We’re pretty sure you know these people… Robert De Niro?

Lindsay:
I love him he’s one of my favourite actors, he’s amazing.

Jackie O:
Jessica Alba?

Lindsay:
She’s sweet…we’re good friends.

Jackie O:
Jane Fonda from Georgia Rule?

Lindsay:
She’s an amazing woman, she’s always been there for me when I’ve needed someone to talk to… she’s like another mother figure.

Jackie O:
Aaron Carter apparently you guys dated for a while…?

Lindsay:
I’m not saying anything, we were 13, he was really sweet.

Kyle:
John Travolta?

Lindsay:
He was the nicest person when I met him…he said really nice things about me I felt really lucky… his eyes are amazing it’s crazy.

Nicole Richie:
She’s sweet… she’s so good with her kids, it’s really nice to see.  She loves her kids, that’s where her focus is.

Kyle:
Robbie Williams?

Lindsay:
He’s funny… he plays a lot of soccer.

Jackie O:
Marilyn Manson?

Lindsay:
He’s a good friend of mine, he’s really sweet, he’s really nice.

***

2Day FM Listener:
Who’s the one actor you’re really want to work with?

Lindsay:
Al Pacino, and I will soon, so I’m really excited about it, I love him, he’s amazing, I haven’t met him yet, I’m going to be intimidated.

Jackie O:
Have you ever been intimidated before?

Lindsay:
I’ve only been intimidated by Karl Lagerfeld…

Jackie O:
What’s he like is he totally cool?

Lindsay:
He’s so funny, he’s always making jokes, he actually wrote a letter of adoption, he wanted me to come live with him, he wrote a set of rules…

Jackie O:
Did you consider it? I would for free Chanel!

Lindsay:
I did!  I bring it up whenever I see him. He is such a genius. He comes to America sometimes.

Jackie O:
Do you get free Chanel handbags?

Lindsay:
If I’m in Paris, my friend Matissia does all the accessories and I raid them…

2Day FM Listener:
What do you think of Charlie Sheen…

Lindsay:
I don’t… think of it…

Jackie O:
Were you paying attention at the time to what was happening to him?

Lindsay:
Yeah it was just really funny… winning!  I think all my friends said that for a very long time.

2Day FM Listener:
I heard a rumour that you were on a plane and they thought you were Lady Gaga?

Lindsay:
I was walking through the airport with a hat and glasses, it was one of the older men that work at the airport… I had a hat on and glasses and he yelled out Lady Gaga!  He was like, oh my God!  Lady Gaga!  It was really funny the paparazzi were cracking up … it distracted them from taking pictures so I made a run for it.

***

Jackie O:
What misconceptions do you want to clear up?

Lindsay:
I’m not this crazy person that people think I am, I really love acting, and I wish that people would focus on that and not focus on things that aren’t true…

Jackie O:
Do you party a lot?

Lindsay:
No, I don’t.  I’ve gone through that phase in my life and I don’t feel compelled to do it again.  I go to dinner. I wish the focus would change.

Kyle:
That’s it now, do you want to hang out?

As promised a video of the Australian premiere of “PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES” with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) himself walking the “Black Carpet”.

As usual we tried to film as much fans as possible, and on the footage you can see how Mr. Rush stopped and did photos for every person around, a total gentleman and a world-class actor.

And don`t forget to check our coverage “On The Spot” for the venue here, with photos and more!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is NOW SHOWING ONLY IN CINEMAS!

note. Music by Hans Zimmer. The music in this video was used without comercial purposes and only intends to make this “fan video” more interesting.

The Australian premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger tides” was held yesterday, May17th at George St. cinemas, with a very special guest, Geoffrey Rush, Captain Barbossa himself walked the “Black Carpet” among some local celebrities.

It was a great venue, with kids walking around with Pirate customs, fans of the saga and people who wanted to see this amazing actor closer, and none of them was disappointed.

Rush arrived at 6.15 pm as it was scheduled, he immediately meet and greet the fans around the carpet, before doing all the media. He happily signed autographs asking the names of every single person around making the best personalized autographs ever dreamed for any fan. Not only that, Mr. Rush also did photos with almost everyone there. Hand shakes, kisses, hugs were also on the list, showing all the crowd what a great kind of person he is, despite the fact he is one of the best actors in the film industry, Oscar awarded and nominated almost every year, he still keeps his modest attitude around, an amazing example for other growing actors and celebrities in general.

After the first round of happy fans, Geoffrey Rush went to the media area. He was very talkative with everyone, taking his time to answer. Then he posed at the media wall next to his character poster and then on the main area, just to continue greeting more fans at the end of the carpet, again stopping for all of them and getting the love and admiration of everyone who wanted to meet him, dismissing the people trying to rush him inside the cinema.

Geoffrey Rush is for sure  a world class actor and a nice person…That is the spirit!

Here enjoy some of the postcards of the venue below:

About the film:
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise.  When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more:  Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
