Michael Caine talks about working with Christopher Nolan and hints at a Batman return. Caine said, “I think they’re going to do it in April, that’s about as much as I know.”

WB and Legendary Pictures are planning to release The Man of Steel  at Christmas 2012, and apparently DC Entertainment has started to figure out the logistics and chronology of their cinematic universe to lead into a Justice League movie.

Christopher Nolan said to Hero Complex when referring to the characters in the DC Universe and how they live in separate cinematic worlds:

“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

Warner Bros. has officially announced that the sequel to The Dark Knight (Batman 3) will be released on July 20, 2012 in both regular and IMAX theaters.  This comes on the heels of this weeks earlier announcement that they’ve teamed up with IMAX for up to 20 additional films.

While there is no official word on what the film is about or even if director Christopher Nolan is going to helm the picture, I think it’s very safe to assume Nolan is back and he’ll start to talk about the movie when promoting Inception this summer.

Ryan Reynolds’ superhero costume for Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern will be almost entirely computer generated.  According to /Film, “The suit Ryan wears on set is a grey tracking motion/performance capture suit with LED lights.”  So the first question that leapt to my mind was, “Why?”  Apparently, the suit will look like, “a manifestation of Reynolds’ character, Hal Jordan’s power.”  Since the Green Lantern Corps are an intergalactic force, their suits need to look otherworldly.  The CG also means we won’t get our first official look at the suit until Warner Bros. gives the go-ahead to release a fully-rendered image.

Bryan Singer would no longer be directing X-Men: First Class as he was already deep in pre-production on Warner Bros’ Jack the Giant Killer and couldn’t be taken away from the project for Fox’s quick plans to get a new superhero franchise off the ground. However, Singer will stay on as producer of the film, specially because there is a script from Jamie Moss, based on a treatment from Singer himself, and seems to be the first installment of a new trilogy.

Now Fox only needs to find a new director, so the rumours will start again…
