A massive global event was held on the night of 28th November 2010. A huge party around the world was witnessed by more than 18,000 people from five continents on the best global nightlife come to life as part of The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. 14 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Britain, India, Ireland, Lebanon, Poland, South Africa, Thailand, USA and Venezuela pair up to exchange the best of their local nightlife culture, as voted by the public. The attendants had the chance to experience the best of nightlife from their exchange country at events that merged music, entertainment, fashion, drinks, food and more.

Australia exchanged nightlife with Brazil for an event that brought  São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to Sydney  for one night in Sydney. The Metro Theatre was transformed into a Brazilian carnival bringing the warm and joyful spirit of Brazil to Oz. Samba dancers, drummer performances called “Batucadas” and delicious Brazilian BBQ delights, as fried bananas and pineapples, roasted chicken and shrimps completed the night.  Moreover, a great line-up took to the different stages of the theatre. Bonde do Rolê brought their sound of baile funk-inspired electro-pop to Australia and performed to a huge crowd of 1,300 fans. Alongside Bonde do Rolê were performances by a host of local talent including samba band Samba Groove, DJ Anna Lunoe and Hoops vs United Colours.

Exclusive guests, including Ruby Rose, Didier Cohen, Jane Gazzo and many Brazilians from the local expat community, were treated to a selection of Brazilian-inspired cocktails including the classic Batida, Caipiroskas with fresh guava juice and lime and Brazilian Mules served with a hint of the Amazonian Acai berry juice.  At the same time, across the world in Sao Paulo, Brazililian guests in were treated to the best of our home-grown talent from Modular artists Muscles, Bag Raiders and Van She.

JAMIROQUAI – Jay Kay and his band, will be in Australia from November 19 to November 23 this year to promote their latest album Rock Dust Light Star.

Described as “blistering, poetic, meaty, reflective and inspiring” the new album, and Kay’s eighth, is the result of two-years work.

A spokesman for Universal music said: “It’s the same sheer joy at the power of ideas and music that has made Jamiroquai one of the greatest live bands around.”

Jamiroquai will perform singles from Rock Dust Light Star alongside their past hits at an invite only Take 40 Australia party.

The party on November 20 will be held at an exclusive Sydney harbour mansion.

Jamiroquai have sold over 25 million copies of their previous seven albums.

Australian Band WOLFMOTHER will be performing live at the MTV SUMMER PARTY joined by MTV Vj’s Ruby Rose and Darren McMullen to celebrate the release of the MTV’s summer programming including new episodes of The Hills, Nitro Circus, Tool Academy and The City. Also the  premiere of ‘The Bitch Is Back’, the pre show to season 5.5 of The Hills including interviews with Kristin Cavallari and Lo Bosworth.

The party will be held at Hyde Park Barracks in Sydney this December 1, 2009.
